Birthday shoot

Last Sunday we held the annual Birthday Shoot. The weather was kind, we had a great turnout (record in fact) and the spread on the fuddle table was impressive. A good time was had by all.

Wilford Bowmen and Red Bull

Last week Wilford Bowmen, as part of the Red Bull Can You Make It event, provided the challenge at the first checkpoint which was at Nottingham University. Over 50 teams took part of which 28 called in at Nottingham, meaning that we met and helped a total of 84 participants, almost all of whom had not tried archery before. An enjoyable time was had by all, judging from the feedback and comments. Many thanks to the coaches and helpers who made the event such a success.

May 7th: Save the date.

The Wilford Bowmen have agreed to be involved with the Robin’s Big World Record attempt that will be taking place on the 7th May (Bank Holiday) at Wollaton Park.

We are in early discussion but as a club we are looking to hold a Have A Go event in the walled garden, of which all proceeds will go to the charity, we will be holding a child friendly Have A Go session on the lawn with other children events and we have the opportunity to have a stall whereby we can promote the club.

We will be looking for club members to to be involved in all aspects of the event, family members are more than welcome to help out.

As we get more detail, we will circulate this to the club.

so, remember to save the date and lets have a great turn out.

Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships

There was plenty of action at the County Indoor Champs yesterday. Tobias was first in his group with an excellent 561, which was also a PB. Emma was narrowly pushed into 4th place, equal on score but she lost out on golds.

Our associate members Nigel, Kelly and Thomas were 1st, 3rd and 1st respectively. Andy and Poppy did well too.

The event filled up quickly, so Steve will have to make sure that he gets his entry in early next year!

A windy day at Bingham

Five Wilford Members were in action on a very windy day at Bingham. Well done to Mike who was third compound and Steve who was first recurve (and won a couple of items in the raffle). A special mention to Ben who was in front of Steve at the halfway mark and in the end missed third by just two points. Jade had a great day for her first competition.
