Everything is ready for tomorrow.

Everything is ready for tomorrow. There have been some changes to the target list, but this will only affect a few people. The up to date target list is available here http://ianseo.net/Details.php?toId=1093

All bosses will now be foam.

The scoring system will be slightly different from what most archers are used to, so pay attention during assembly!

Finally, the tram is now being tested, so exercise caution when entering and leaving site.

Until tomorrow.

Target list and notes for Wilford’s World Archery tournament 17th May

Hello,

the target list for Sunday’s shoot is available WBOT15_TargetList_Final_14May2015. It also available here http://ianseo.net/Details.php?toId=1093 – this link will also provide access to live results during the day (a local wifi network will be available), this is in addition to the leader board being shown on the TV screens in the marquees being provided for competitors. Chairs and a number of tables are also being provided.

As a result of the level of entries and the stated intention of providing 6 ring faces for all compounds, some of the recurve juniors will be shooting at straw bosses (targets 25, 27 and 28.)

In the class column on the target list is a code which corresponds to the round being shot.

Wilford at the first Notts League shoot

Delayed post.

On Sunday 3rd May we had 15 members shooting in the first of this year’s Notts League shoots at Bramcote Archery club. The weather wasn’t as bad as forecast, it stopped raining shortly after we started shooting and gradually got warmer during the day.  Despite the strong breeze there were some good scores.

No results yet, because the League is run over three shoots. The next one is at Sherwood Archers in June.

Last Sunday

Last Sunday was a pleasant day for shooting. At the Kirby Muxloe World Arcehry 1440 event our juniors did very well. In particular Henry exceeded the Junior Master Bowmen score by over 100 points, and Toby got the exact score for his first JMB score.

Other members were shooting at the Western round at Bingham, and Sallie won the ladies recurve.

Unfortunately the weather forecast is not looking so good for the first Notts League shoot tomorrow at Bramcote Arcehry club.

The Pairs shoot

Thank you to everyone that turned up for last week’s shoot. The rain started a little earlier than forecast, up until then it was quite pleasant – for February. The weather was much than in previous years and we had 11 pairs shooting, a much better turn out.

(it’s called the pairs shoot because the names of all those archers who turned up were put in a hat and pairs were drawn at random. We shoot Warwick rounds and the handicap adjusted scores for each pair were worked out. As it is on handicap, anyone can win.)

Thank you to Andy for organising it all and drying out the scoresheets!

Now, on to the results – sort of. As Andy said at the end of the shoot, here are the finalists, the top three pairs, in no particular order:

Sallie and Alan

Joyce and Lizzie

Hannah and Mattia

You’ll have to wait until the AGM to find out who the winners are. Hee hee.

Wilford Bowmen at the Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships 1st February

Once again our younger members did us proud at the weekend.

Henry won the U14 group, with a score of 557 which would have placed him 8th overall in the mens’ results. Mimi won the girls Over 14 group with 520 which would also have placed her 8th in the ladies’ results. Arjun won the boys over 14 group with 527.

Emma was third lady with 532.

Mike, Ed and Steve also took part and didn’t disgrace themselves.

Another good day for Wilford Bowmen.

The full results are available here: http://www.nottsarchery.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/2015-02-01-Notts-Indoor-Champs-results-2015.pdf

The Wilford Penguins

Today 4 brave souls battled the elements to take part in the first Wilford Bowmen Penguin Shoot.

The chosen distance was 30 metres with a 10 zone scoring system. This was truly a frostbite shoot!

The result:

1st Bob Gange 283
2nd Richard Halowka 275
3rd Kevin Salmon 256
4th David Edge 209

It was unanimously agreed the rest of the Wilford Bowmen are soft.

Cheers

Kevin !

(Weather – sunny and calm, temperature around freezing, with snow on the ground)

Christmas shoot 21st December

2014-12-21 12.33.35

There was a good turn out for this year’s Christmas shoot. We reinstated an old practice where everyone shoots with the beginner’s bows and arrows. A good time was had by all. Next year we might even try to look festive. The outcome was very close, congratulations to Matt – enjoy those Lindor!

Thank you to the providers of the Heroes, Celebrations and Quality Street.

As a reminder, indoor shooting resumes on Saturday 3rd January. As long as the weather is reasonable we expect to be shooting at the Walled Garden as usual on Sunday 28th December.

Seasons greetings.

Rushcliffe Sports Awards

We’ve just come back from the Rushcliffe Sports Awards evening.

There were many categories, Charlotte Attwood, who has been coaching the juniors in the club, was one of three strong nominations for the Community Sports Coach category, and guess what, Charlotte won! Woop, woop.

This is great for the club and will further help raise the profile of the club.

Congratulations Charlotte.
