We held our 67th Open Tournament last Sunday. Instead of the usual York/Hereford/Bristol rounds we ran a World Record status WA 1440 event to international standard, as a test event in preparation for the 2016 European Championships. The event was run in conjunction with ArcheryGB and Nottingham City Council.
There were large tents with chairs for the competitors, electronic timing and lights, live automated results using tablets for scoring (as well as the main paper version), with the results displayed on TV screens in the tents.
The weather was fairly kind, as the rain stayed away, but there was a stiff breeze at times. All went really smoothly, some good scores were achieved and there were a lot of claims for stars and six gold ends. As a club we did well, with Henry second and Tobias first for their age groups. Sallie was third lady recurve and Sallie, Emma and Steve won the recurve team trophy. The full results booklet is here Wilford WA1440 2015_CompleteResultsBooklet . There were 25 claims for stars and one six gold end badge.
There have been plenty of positive comments, both in person and by email, some of which are listed below. Well, done everybody.
